SAN FRANCISCO — Quantcast, one of the world leaders in applying the power of Big Data and analytics to digital and mobile advertising, today announced two major additions to its leadership team. Peter Kuipers, currently CFO at The Weather Company, has been named Quantcast’s new chief financial officer, and Peter Sirota, previously general manager of Amazon Elastic MapReduce, joins the company as senior vice president of Engineering.

“We’re incredibly happy to have two accomplished and respected senior executives joining our team as we continue to scale our business to support the tremendous demand we are seeing for our products and services in markets around the world,” said Konrad Feldman, CEO and co-founder of Quantcast. “Kuipers and Sirota joining us caps a momentous year for Quantcast. In September, one of our industry’s most accomplished operational leaders, Adrian D’Souza, joined us from Google; in October we acquired cross-device and personalized retargeting leader Struq, creating a new one-stop-shop for our industry; and we’ve smashed technology, product and business milestones across the business.”

“The entire media and content industry is undergoing a transformation driven by the power of data and the transition to mobile,” said Kuipers. “Quantcast is at the forefront of that shift and incredibly well positioned to enable advertisers and marketers to unlock the potential of Big Data. This is a historic time in marketing, and I am thrilled to be joining one of the industry’s leading innovators.”

“Quantcast is one of a very small number of companies where Big Data is more than just a convenient marketing term; it is their actual business,” said Sirota. “There may be no industry where more data is generated on a daily basis than in digital marketing and advertising, and aside from Google and Facebook, no one processes more of that data and has better means to use it than Quantcast. I look forward to working with the company’s engineering team to tackle the ongoing challenge of managing, organizing and utilizing this tremendous understanding of real-time consumer behavior to the benefit of our clients.”

Kuipers was most recently executive vice president and CFO of The Weather Company (TWC), a media, content and technology leader operating The Weather Channel, weather.com, wunderground.com, and WSI, where he helped lead the company’s international expansion, digital transformation and monetization strategies. Kuipers is also a Board Member on the Executive Committee for the Mobile Marketing Association. Prior to TWC, Kuipers served in numerous roles at Yahoo!, including for the company’s largest geographical region as vice president of Finance for the Americas Region, a multibillion-dollar business, and led teams responsible for FP&A, Ops Finance, BD Finance, Controllership, Accounting and Reporting, and Finance operations for the region across multiple product lines and channels. He also previously served as vice president of Finance for the Global Products division and as vice president of Finance for International Regions. Prior to Yahoo!, he held financial leadership roles with Altera Corp., General Electric Company in the U.S. and the Netherlands, and Akzo Nobel in the Netherlands. Kuipers started his career as an auditor with Ernst & Young in the U.S. and the Netherlands. A Chartered Accountant in the Netherlands, Kuipers holds a Master’s degree in Economics and Business Administration from the Maastricht University Graduate School of Business and Economics.

Sirota is a respected leader in the Big Data space, most recently serving as general manager of Amazon’s Elastic MapReduce (Amazon EMR) and Amazon Web Services (AWS) Data Pipeline, where he had responsibility for software development, operations, product management, and P&L for the businesses. Sirota led these services from conception – scaling the teams, software and business through hyper-growth. Since launch, customers including Netflix, Nokia, Yelp, Standard & Poor’s, and many others have launched more than 15 million Hadoop clusters on Amazon EMR. Prior to launching these services, he served as a senior manager of Software Development at AWS leading billing, authentication and account management teams, and was responsible for launching the Amazon DevPay service. Prior to Amazon, Sirota ran engineering teams at RealNetworks and was responsible for the development and operation of the first Internet audio and video streaming network, Real Broadcast Network (RBN).
