Name: Benjamin Gardner
Title: Agency Sales Manager
Awards: Commended as one of UK’s Rising Stars in the advertising industry by the IPA
What is your role at Quantcast and how long have you been working here?
As sales manager for Aegis and Havas for the last 18 months, my main focus has been to drive the agency relationships here in London.
What is your favorite part about working at Quantcast?
My favorite part is being at the forefront of an industry which moves and changes so quickly, and then working closely with and learning from some really amazing people.
What is the most challenging project you’ve worked on at Quantcast?
One of the biggest challenges is shifting the overall perceptions around programmatic advertising. As thought leaders we aim to help the industry move forward by demystifying the programmatic “black box,” pushing the attribution conversation and also clarifying the benefits for brand advertisers who typically are quite reserved about using real-time bidding (RTB). It’s a long process, but we’re slowly starting to see some of these changes.
What are your hobbies and interests?
I love traveling – usually to go windsurfing or snowboarding somewhere.
What’s your go-to karaoke song?
I normally prefer to stick to an air guitar solo, however I have been known to launch into Bohemian Rhapsody in the wee hours of the morning.
What is your ideal Saturday?
Just hanging with friends.
What is your favorite Quantcast snack?
Beef Jerky – obviously.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
007 James Bond (and still do).
I was out for a run at my local park when a woman stopped me and started asking all sorts of random questions about my waist size. Turns out she was a casting agent and wanted to find people for an upcoming soft drinks advert. Naturally I thought this would be fun to try so I said yes, however when I got there it turned out that it was an ad for Coca-Cola. Now I can’t have a can of coke in the office without someone taking the Mickey.
