Microsoft recently disclosed that Windows XP remains on about 74% of work computers. We took a quick look at the web consumption attributable to the various version of Microsoft’s desktop OS through June of this year.
Window’s 7 is gaining share fast and looks certain to overtake Vista in coming months, though reeling in XP could take quite some time. In the past month Windows 7 took share from Vista, XP and from other operating systems, which for the US is predominantly Apple’s OS X.
The Microsoft report related to work computers and, based on an analysis weekdays vs. weekends for the last week in June, we can see that Vista’s penetration remains markedly higher in the workplace.
