Plaxo hopes to take the complexity out of managing your digital address book. The company's Pulse product enables users to update and maintain contact information in computers and personal digital assistants (PDAs). Its service provides Web-based access to a user's address book, and synchronizes the address book between multiple computers and applications such as Microsoft Outlook and Google's Gmail. Users can also link their Pulse account to personal blogs, and accounts at Flickr, Twitter, Yelp, and some 30 other sites. Todd Masonis, Cameron Ring, and Sean Parker (co-founder of Napster) founded the company in 2001, although Parker has since left Plaxo. Cable company Comcast acquired Plaxo in 2008.
