Portsmouth, Virginia. Repair and refurbishment of naval ships, as well as contract industrial services. They describe the yard's history, along with current dry dock and machine shop capabilities. [Description from dmoz]
The US Department of the Navy is the Department of Defense's "surf and turf" offering. Its mission is to maintain, train, and equip combat-ready forces to help deter aggression, maintain freedom, and win wars. It operates three principal components: the Navy Department, which consists of executive offices; operating forces, including the Marine Corps, reserve components, and, in wartime, the US Coast Guard; and the shore establishment. The Navy manages a fleet of more than 250 deployable battle force ships, two dozen submarines, and 3,700-plus aircraft. It employs more than 330,000 active duty personnel, 80% of whom are enlisted. The Department of the Navy was established in 1798. [Description from Hoover's]
