How does Quantcast generate audience-based demographic profiles, and what is the methodology that is used?
Quantcast leverages census level traffic data, collected via our tags, along with a unique inference model that combines a variety of audience-based reference points to generate demographic profiles. You can read about our methodology, and how we address issues such as cookie-deletion in our models here.
Why don’t my traffic numbers (cookies, page views, etc.) in WebTrends match-up with the numbers that Quantcast is reporting?
As an existing WebTrends client, Quantcast recommends you continue to use WebTrends as your primary source for site metrics. WebTrends and Quantcast use slightly different methodologies (time zone definition, non-human activity filtering, visit definitions, etc.) for calculating general metrics hence the potential difference in numbers between the two companies.
Yes. There is no cost to participate in the Quantcast Publisher Program. Additionally, the WebTrends code to pass data to Quantcast is made available to WebTrends’ clients at no cost.
When will I start to see my WebTrends values in Quantcast?
A general site profile will be available within a few days. Profiles on individual WebTrends values will take 1-2 weeks depending on the amount of data collected during that time.
When will I see demographic data for my WebTrends specific values?
For new WebTrends specific values it will take 1-2 weeks for the demographic data depending on the size of the data set. In terms of actual traffic counts (cookies, page views, etc.), those will be available within a few days of your live date. Note, however, that many of our estimates are based on 30 day rolling averages; if we only have 5 days of data we will use that sample to project out the next 30 days. As such, if you tend to have variability in traffic by day, week, or month, our traffic estimates will not be stable until we have a full 30 days of data.
I don’t want to display certain site metrics in my Quantcast public profile. Is there a way to hide certain metrics?
Yes. Quantcast provides publishers with the ability to control what is and isn’t made available to the public. Simply login to your account on Quantcast.com and go into the settings page on either the network or site level. Quantcast strongly recommends that any sensitive data be set to hidden within the first few days the account has been created.
Do you have a solution designed more for advertisers than publishers?
